RARE 1946 Crosley WW II Victory Tube Radio model 63TJ Picture(s) and Description:

Up for your consideration is a very rare, absolutely beautiful, restored 1946 Crosley 63TJ, "Victory Model" AM/Shortwave tube radio made in Cincinnati Ohio. This radio was manufactured following the conclusion of World War II and featured a very proudly decorated dial scale in red, white and blue with stars and stripes. The top of the dial scale boasts "Crosley Victory Model". This model is very difficult to come by as most collectors tend to keep them in their collections knowing its rarity. The radio has been restored to excellent working condition including new Electrolytic capacitors. All of the tubular paper/wax capacitors have been changed as well. A new AC cord has been installed for added safety. Both dial lamps were replaced. The volume and tone controls as well as the band switch have been cleaned and all function smoothly. The radio picks up stations clearly across the AM band and the shortwave band works surprisingly well. I've picked up stations in Germany, China and a few others that I honestly couldn't say where they were coming from. The radio has a built in loop antenna for the AM band that works great and I hooked up about 40 feet of wire to pull in the shortwave stations. The speaker is original and is in very good condition. (I will warranty this radio against failure for one year parts and labor. You only pay for shipping both directions). The cabinet has been very nicely refinished using the finest Mohawk Toning lacquers and clear semi-gloss topcoats. The top of the cabinet is solid (Walnut) wood, not veneer. There was a piece missing on top at the back left edge that had to be repaired. The patch looks good and is only noticeable with close inspection. It does not stand out at all. The dial cover is in excellent condition with a little bit of yellowing which is normal for its age. The Bakelite knobs are all original and are in fine condition. The grillcloth has been replaced using some material from a mid forties console radio I had restored previously. The cloth looks great and has no tears, snags or stains on it. I really like that it is a actual grillcloth from the same period instead of a reproduction grillcloth. This radio will stand out proudly displayed in any room. Just turn it on and tune it in.
